William G. Blickensderfer, affectionately known as Bill, passed away on June 9, 2024, at the age of 81. He was born in Buffalo, NY on November 17 to the late George and Marie (Steimle) Blickensderfer.
He resided in Akron and dedicated his life to farming, a career that he loved and that shaped the person he became. He was a vital part of the local agriculture community, always ready to lend a helping hand to fellow farmers. Every year, he brought joy to the community by growing pumpkins for the local children and placing a star on top of his silos for all to see during the holiday season.
Deeply patriotic, Bill served his country with pride and honor and was a dedicated member of the NRA. He held firm conservative Republican beliefs, but his kindness and calm demeanor touched the hearts of all who knew him. His love for animals was evident in the care he took of his farm animals. An avid sports enthusiast, Bill was a die-hard Yankees fan, never missing a game. His love for the team even led him on a bus trip to Yankees Stadium a few years back. He also enjoyed watching the television show, Airwolf, and often listened to the song, "King of the Road" by Roger Miller.
Bill is survived by his sister, Virginia Blish; his brothers, George and Ralph Blickensderfer; and his special niece, Janice Blish Green. He is also survived by many other nieces and nephews who will dearly miss their Uncle Bill. He was preceded in death by two of his brothers, John and Richard Blickensderfer.
A Graveside Service with Military Honors will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, June 24, 2024 at the WNY National Cemetery, 1254 Indian Falls Road, Corfu, NY 14036. We invite you to leave your memories of William, upload photos, and share your stories on his memorial page.
