William Bates Obituary

William "Bill" Bates, a lifelong Christian, went home to be with the Lord on February 5, 2020. He was born in Philadelphia, PA on June 18, 1937 to the late James and Agnes "Nancy" (Galloway) Bates.

Bill was a 1955 graduate of Swatara High School in Harrisburg, PA. While still in Pennsylvania, he married Mary Lou (Brauen), his loving wife of 53 years, before relocating to Middleport, NY. He was employed as a Greyhound bus driver for many years before retiring from NY Trailways in 1999. He loved playing golf, attending Bible study, and engaging in conversation with friends and people wherever he went.

Loving husband of Mary Lou (Brauen) Bates; beloved father of David (Deborah) Bates of Connecticut and April (Jeff) Cook of Maryland; cherished grandfather of Ian and Luke Bates and Emily and Abigail Cook. He is also survived by a sister, Elizabeth Bates, several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Douglas Bates.

Service and Burial will take place at the convenience of the family sometime this Spring.
