Walter Marion Rosonowski, known affectionately as Walt, was born on November 15, 1940, in Toledo, Ohio. He passed away peacefully surrounded by family on March 11, 2025 after a long battle with Parkinson's disease. A dedicated husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother, Walter lived a full and vibrant life that was defined by his passion for his community, his love for refurbishing cars, and his commitment to his family and friends.
Walt honorably served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1957 to 1963 and worked as an IT Supervisor until his retirement. However, he found his true calling in his volunteer work as the Director of the C. Dee Wright Community Center. For over five years, he was responsible for groundbreaking programs that catered to all age groups. Walt spearheaded numerous entertainment programs such as the monthly concerts on Saturday nights, community events for teens, the Grandparents Assisted Reading Program (GARP) for children, elder care, and even a pet supply pantry. Walt was bestowed with several accolades for his service to the community and was a member of the Akron Historical Society and a founding member of the Tri Five Car Club.
Beloved husband to Diane (Wheeler) Rosonowski; loving father to David Rosonowski, Laura Miranda, Paula (Ken) Melson, and Jennifer Revell; cherished grandfather to David, Jessica, Julia, Nicole, Ben, Jamie, Walker; proud great-grandfather to Mack, Clare, Issable, and Olivia. Walter is also survived by his siblings Randy (Sherry) McCabe and Julie (Kevin) Taylor, as well as many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Marion and Dorothy (Dickes) Rosonowski, his brothers, Richard Rosonowski, Douglas McCabe, and a grandson, Joshua.
