Virginia Sowl of Akron passed away on September 5, 2020. She was born in Reedley, CA on March 29, 1924 to the late William and Adah (Ragel) Stone.
She met her late husband Perry of over 38 years while he was stationed in California waiting to be deployed. When World War II ended, Perry and Virginia moved their family to Western New York. Virginia was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She loved to travel and often talked about the trip that she and Perry took to Fiji, along with many other trips she took with friends to places like Australia, New Zealand, and Alaska. She especially loved gardening and visiting with people.
Loving mother of Linda (late Craig) Fuzi and Carole Schanley; cherished grandmother of Alicia (Greg) Zuydhoek, Perry Schanley, Arnie (Lisa) Ostapinski, Jason Schanley, Christopher Fuzi and Corey Lynn (Justin) Fried; proud great-grandmother of Sofia Botticelli, Ava Botticelli, and Aidan Plowe. A sister,Velma Gillis and several nieces and nephews also survive her. Virginia is predeceased by her husband, Perry Sowl and a sister, Ruth Clarke.
A Memorial Service will take place on Saturday, September 12, at 10 AM at Millgrove Bible Church, 11517 Genesee Street, Alden, NY 14004.
