Thomas F. Lotz, Sr.

Thomas F. Lotz Sr. went home to be with his Lord on November 24, 2022. He was born in Akron, NY on December 29, 1933 to the late Raymond and Thelma (McLouth) Lotz.

Thomas attended school in Corfu. He married Joan Pixley on April 18, 1953 and together they raised 6 children. For many years, Tom managed the Pixley's Food Store and in1984 became owner of the store and continued the tradition of serving the Akron community with his family.

He was very proud to be a 50+ year member of the Akron Fire Company where he was an Acting Daytime Chief for many years, Head Truck Captain, Past Foreman, 2nd Assistant Chief, Exempt Fireman. He was also the recipient of numerous awards which included Top Responder and Driver of the Year. He was honored to be named the 1989 Akron Newstead Citizen of the Year and the 2006 Business of the Year. Tom got master degrees in being a great husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, business owner, fireman, and serving his community. Job well done dad!

Loving husband of Joan Lotz for 69 years; beloved father of Judy Lotz, Todd (Anne) Lotz, Terry (late Jean) Lotz, Tracy (Karri) Lotz and Jason (Summer) Lotz; cherished grandfather of 14 and proud great grandfather of 9. Tom is also survived by his sister, Nancy (late Leo) Meiser. He is predeceased by his son, Thomas Lotz Jr., brother, Douglas Lotz, and a great grandson, Thomas Lotz.

Friends and relatives may call on Sunday, December 4, 2022 from 3 to 7 PM at Ross Funeral Home of Akron, LLC., 10 Eckerson Avenue, Akron, NY 14001. Tom’s Funeral Service will be held on Monday, December 5, 2022 at 11 AM. at the First Baptist Church, 122 Main Street Akron, New York (please assemble at church). In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Tom’s memory to the Akron Fire Company or Hospice Buffalo.
