Theresa E. Buekers

Theresa E. Buekers passed away on October 31, 2023 at the Villages of Albion with her daughter at her side. She was born on September 30,1933 to Anthony and Helen (Kozak) Copenhagen in Troy, Michigan.
 

She lived and worked on the family farm along with her siblings Anthony (Mary) Copenhagen and the late Rita and Rose Copenhagen. As a young adult, Theresa worked at Chrysler Tank and Missile to help out the family after the early death of her father. She met, on a blind date, and eventually married her late husband Edward. They lived in their own home in Troy and raised four children; Judy(Don) Brace, Tom(Ali) Buekers, Christy(Kevin) Woods, and the Late Karl Buekers. Soon after Karl’s birth, the young family moved to Akron New York for a better job opportunity for Edward. Terri raised the children and babysat a neighborhood child along with volunteering in Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts. When her children were in high school and college she worked at a local dry cleaner and then at Ottney and Miller along with volunteering with the St. Teresa’s Women Guild.

As the grandchildren; Andrew (Anna), Nathan, and Megan Fogal, Sarah Brace, Grace and Samantha Buekers, began arriving Terri was able to build her dream home with her husband and did some traveling within the United States. Later as her husband became ill, she took care of him until he went into a nursing home and she moved to be closer to him.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, November 11, 2023 at 11:00 AM at St. Teresa of Avila Church, 5771 Buell Street, Akron, NY 14001. Please assemble at church.
