Sylvia T. Kempisty (Bloom), 93, of Scotch Plains, NJ, formally of Corfu, NY, passed away on November 28, 2024, peacefully at home.
She was born June 19, 1931 in Buffalo, the daughter of Joseph and Jean (Andris) Bloom. She married Henry J. Kempisty in 1950. They were married for 63 years until his death in 2013.
Sylvia graduated from Depew High School in 1948 and was Salutatorian of her class.
In 1958 Sylvia and Henry moved to Corfu NY, buying a dairy farm that they operated until 1977 and where they raised their five sons. Their farm, Kemdale Farms produced several award winning dairy cows.
She worked for many years in the accounting departments at Westinghouse and various insurance agencies in western New York. She retired from Erie and Niagara Insurance In 1998. Sylvia volunteered for the Genesee County Health Department health clinics for several years.
She was a member of the Holy Name of Mary Church for many years and then a member of The Church of the Little Flower, Berkeley Heights, NJ.
Surviving are her sons, David (Lisa) Kempisty of Cattaraugus, NY, Lawrence (Sarahann) Kempisty of League City, TX, James (Debra) Kempisty of Youngstown, OH and Thomas Kempisty of Scotch Plains, NJ. She is also survived by brothers, Ronald (late Alice) Bloom of Garden Grove, CA and Darryl (Gale) Bloom of Plano, TX, sister-in-law, Joan Kempisty of Lancaster, NY, and special friend, Rachaell Gaston of Scotch Plains, NJ.
Sylvia was the loving grandmother of Brian (Dawn) Kempisty, Andrea (Keith) Murray, Kathryn (Mark) Humel, Rebecca (David) Ruth, Joshua (Mercedes Marchese) Kempisty, Jessica (Matthew Wagner) Kempisty. Loving great-grandmother to Jack and Connor Murray, Oliver, Cooper and Cameron Humel, Carter Kempisty, Emma Teresi-Marchese and Elliana Wagner. She is survived by several nieces and nephews.
She is united in death with her parents, Joseph and Jean Bloom, her husband, Henry Kempisty and son, Scott Kempisty.
Friends and family may call on Friday, December 6, 2024 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at Ross Funeral Home, 10 Eckerson Avenue, Akron NY 14001. Funeral mass will be held on Saturday, December 7, 2024 at 9:30 am at Holy Name of Mary Church, 8656 Church Street, East Pembroke NY 14056, followed by burial at St. Adalbert’s Cemetery, 6200 Broadway, Lancaster NY 14086.
