Sylvia George of Basom, died after battling a long illness on February 9, 2020. She was born on April 27, 1937 in Batavia, New York to the late Sylvester and Mabel Sundown.
She was a proud member of the Tonawanda Seneca Nation and a member of the Bear Clan. Sylvia attended Akron Central Schools and worked at Fisher Price for many years. She then went on to work at Genesee Memorial Hospital as an aide. Most recently, she was known as “The Popcorn Lady” at Adesa Auto Auction. She and her late husband of 58 years, Leroy George, were inseparable. They shared many interests and were great supports to each other through the years.
Beloved mother of five, Marnita (Rodger)Jones,Rodney George, Allyn George, Louise George, Melvin (Mary) George; dear sister of Cheryl Sundown, Alvin George; cherished grandmother of 11 grandchildren; proud great-grandmother of 8. Many nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive Sylvia. Her husband, Leroy George and great-grandson, Dean Abrams predeceased her.
Friends and relatives may call at 590 Council House Road until the time of Service at 1 PM on Wednesday, February 12, 2020 with a 2 PM Long House Service.
