Susan Van Wyk Obituary

Susan Ann Van Wyk, known affectionately as Sue, passed away peacefully on October 31, 2025, at her home in Akron, New York. Born on May 23, 1941, in Boone, Iowa, Susan was a beacon of generous love and steadfast loyalty throughout her 84 years of life.

Raised in Oskaloosa, Iowa, Susan was the loving daughter of the late Vivian (Caldwell) and Chester Williams. On May 9, 1964, Susan and Roger Van Wyk were married in Oskaloosa, Iowa and relocated to New York in the late 1960's, settling in Akron, New York where they raised their three boys together. Her caring nature and faithfulness was evident in every aspect of her life. Above all, what mattered most to Susan were her grandchildren. She found immense joy in attending all of their events and caring for them. Her kind and generous heart was most evident when she was with her grandchildren, who were the light of her life.

Susan's love for her family was matched only by her love for crocheting, a hobby that she enjoyed in her quiet moments. She was a loving mother, a doting grandmother, and a cherished friend.

Her legacy lives on through her sons, Corbin (Diane) Van Wyk, Scott (Christina) Van Wyk, and  Nathan (Barbara) Van Wyk. She was the cherished grandmother of Sidney (Caleb) Lee, Vanessa Van Wyk, Christian (Shelby) Van Wyk, Evan Van Wyk and Stella Van Wyk; doting great grandmother to Sage, Ivy, Ranger, Shire, Prairie, and Enora. She is also survived by her sister in law, Marilyn Williams and many nieces and nephews. Sue was predeceased by her sister Linda McGinley and brother, Robert Williams.

Funeral Services will be private at the convenience of the family.
