Sandra Marie Meyers (Sandi) August 14, 1948 - April 30, 2025
Sandra Marie Meyers of Alden, NY (formerly of Friendship, NY) passed away on April 30, 2025. She was born on August 14, 1948. She was married on August 7, 1971 to Loren Meyers who survives.
Loren and Sandi have three sons: Alan (Leigh) of Randolph, NY; James (Heather) of Sacramento, CA; and Dale (Rachel) of Alden. She is survived by 17 grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren whom she dearly loved and enjoyed spending time with.
Sandi is a graduate of West Valley Central School’s class of 1966. She worked for the Dept. of Social Services in Cattaraugus County from 1969 to 1971. She started her teaching career in 1982 at Belmont Central School and retired in 2000. She was very involved in the Girl Scouting program in Friendship for many years. She served faithfully at Clarence Center - Akron Mennonite Church and previously at United Church of Friendship. She recently served as chaplain of the Alden Senior Citizens.
She will be remembered as a very loving and caring person who loved the Lord with all her heart. She enjoyed doing crafts, scrapbooking and making cards.
Besides her husband of 53 years and her children, she is survived by a dear friend, James Kane, and by many siblings: Sue Tingue of East Otto, Cindy (Bob) Giboo of Machias; Vickie (Al) Erlandson of East Otto; Gary Tingue of West Valley; Ann (Gary) Robbins of Arcadia, FL; Cathy Tingue (sister-in-law) of Bradford, PA; John (Nell) Tingue of Alachua, FL; Kelly (Daryl) Murphy of Machias; Candy (Randy) Kessler of Machias; Jeff (Pat) Tingue of Machias; Skip Tingue of Waterford, MI ; Dale (Carol) Tingue of Delevan; Sally (Jeff) Carter of Buffalo; Larry (Julie) May of Delevan; Ray (Cindi) May of Freedom ; Rose (Dean) French of Davenport, FL.
Sandi was predeceased by her mother, Mary Tingue May; her stepfather, Conrad May; her father, Clarence (Bub) Tingue; her stepmother, Betty Tingue; her brothers, Jody and Roger Tingue, and her grandson, Kristofer James (KJ) Meyers.
Sandi donated her body to the University of Buffalo. This was her long-time wish, so there will be no viewing. A visitation time will be held from 2-4pm on Sunday, May 4th at Clarence Center - Akron Mennonite Church, 11500 Clarence Center Road, Akron, NY 14004. A Celebration of Life service will be held at the same location at 3pm on Monday, May 5th followed by a fellowship dinner. (The service will also be live-streamed on the church’s Facebook page.)
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Clarence Center - Akron Mennonite Church.
