Ruth E. Folger

Ruth E. Folger was a beacon of love and compassion in every life she touched. Born on October 7, 1945, in Buffalo, NY, Ruth grew up to become a pillar of the community of Akron, NY where she spent the majority of her life. A spirited woman with a heart of gold, Ruth was a living testament to the power of love, kindness, and perseverance. She showed us that a life lived for others is a life well-lived.

As the owner and operator of Akron's House of Spirits for over 30 years, Ruth not only served her community with dedication but also created a legacy that will live on for generations. She was a life member of the Akron Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary, where she served as a past President, demonstrating her unwavering commitment to service. Ruth's love for her community was only surpassed by her love for her family and grandchildren. She was the high school "fun" mom, the grandma to everyone, and the matriarch who held her family together with her loving and strong spirit. 

Ruth is survived by her loving children Darrin (Lynne) Folger, Renee (Chris) Prange, Raymond (Lisa) Seguin Jr., and Robin (Ed) Apholz. She was a beloved grandmother to 16 grandchildren, a proud great-grandmother to 18 great-grandchildren, and a great-great-grandmother. Ruth was blessed with a large and loving family, including her siblings Janice (Dale) Fox and Joseph DiChristina, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. Her life was also enriched by her many "best" friends.She was preceded in death by her husband Donnal Folger, sister Delores Stroud, brother Richard DiChristina, and both of her loving parents. 

Visitation will be held from 3-7 PM on Monday, February 9, 2026, at Ross Funeral Home of Akron, LLC, followed by a funeral service at 7:00 PM. In lieu of flowers charitable contributions may be made in Ruth's memory to the Akron Fire Department.
