The laudatory sports lover, Ronald Edward Laude, 83, of Corfu NY was born on April 20, 1936 to Edward and Viola (Eder) Laude with 2 brothers and 5 sisters. His legacy of praise and laughter will carry on through his lyrical lady love, Carmel Metzger, and his 6 children had with the late Dorothea Laude; Cindy (Dave) Baker, Larry Laude, Renee (Greg) Marek, Brad (Lynda) Laude, Ronette (Wade) Wolcott, Thomas (Amy) Laude, their ever-growing families, his sister Nancy Darling, and many nieces and nephews.
Ron lived life to the fullest until the morning of February 19, 2020. Born in Buffalo NY, from childhood on, Ron was a fierce competitor who loved the thrill of any game. Although he consistently played to win, he demonstrated true sportsmanship at every turn, always encouraging both teams to give it their all. If you’ve ever played on a team with or against Ron Laude or any one of his 6 children, 17 grandchildren or 12 great grandchildren – you knew him. He was the loudest, proudest man in the crowd at softball games, soccer, karate, field hockey, basketball, baseball, beauty pageants, graduations and more.
Ron served in the Army as a mail clerk and worked as a signalman maintainer at Conrail for over 25 years. He will be remembered by all for his enduring faith, particularly at Mogadore Chapel where he could be found every Sunday. He faithfully donated to St. Jude’s Hospital whenever he could and he completed the Ride for Roswell for many years in his 70s and 80s.
He bowled as often as possible with his lady love, Carmel, who he sang to every night without fail. He never missed a birthday and his musical spirit will live on as legend to all who knew him. Calling hours are scheduled for Monday, Feb 24 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Funeral services are Tuesday, Feb 25th at 11 AM at Ross Funeral Home,10 Eckerson Ave in Akron, NY.
