Peter L. Fischer

Peter L. Fischer, 90, passed away on July 7, 2026. Born in Buffalo, NY, on September 22, 1935, to the late Lee and Adele Fischer. Peter devoted his life to public service, working as a career firefighter with the City of Buffalo Fire Department at Engine 38 for 35 years, from which he retired. 

In his free time, Peter had a keen interest in carpentry, fishing, puzzles, wrestling, and collecting matchbox cars. He also enjoyed building model boats, planes, and trains, but most of all he cherished the time spent with his grandchildren. Peter was often dubbed the life of the party, his presence was always warmly felt by everyone around him. A member of the Akron Newstead Senior Center and Clarence Senior Center, he was an active part of his community, bringing joy and laughter wherever he went.

Peter is survived by his beloved wife Carole Fischer; his children Sherri (Michael) Becker and Lori Fischer (Richard Nunz); his siblings Carol Gardener (late Calvin) and James Fischer; grandchildren Kevin Kelkenberg, Keith Kelkenberg, Sandra Kelkenberg, Andy Kelkenberg, Dan (Brittany) Kelkenberg, Peter Becker (Mackenzie Farbo), and Theresa Becker (Aaron Federowicz). He was also survived by his great-grandchildren Quinn, Hudson and Levi and several nieces and nephews. Peter was preceded in death by his daughter, Theresa Kelkenberg.

Friends and family may call on Sunday, July 12th from 3-7PM at Ross Funeral Home of Akron, LLC. 10 Eckerson Ave. Akron, NY 14001. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, July 13th at 10:00AM at Our Lady of Peace Roman Catholic Church at 10950 Main St. Clarence, NY 14031. A burial will follow at Acacia Park Cemetery.
