We regretfully announce the passing of Nancy (Maloney) Tordy, who passed away at home surrounded by loved ones on 12/16/23. Nancy will be forever loved and forever remembered.
Nancy was born in Auburn, New York, on 7/10/35 to Vincent Maloney and Doris (Dean) Maloney.
Nancy was predeceased by her parents and brother, Martin (Marty) Maloney. Nancy’s sister, Judy (Maloney) Bobbett remains in Skaneateles, NY.
Nancy married George Tordy in 1955 and had five children. Gregory Vincent, Timothy George, Daniel Gerard, and Kathryn Ann Tordy (Wilsman). Nancy lost one child, Mark Henry. Bonnie (Shepard) Tordy, daughter-in-law, and Eric Wilsman, son-in-law, joining the family. Nancy is predeceased by her husband George.
Nancy’s life filled with joy at becoming a Gramma! Katie Tordy (Young) and Jennifer Tordy (Wulf) brought absolute love, joy, and happiness to Nancy. Becoming a Great Grandma to Kaleb Tordy Young (mother, Katie Young) sent Nancy over the moon!!
Nancy’s favorite sports were golfing and bowling. She was a league member, winning countless awards for her talents. In golf, she could give the men a run for their money!!! Nancy also loved to play Bridge. She and her Bridge buddies played frequently. Nancy was also one of the original members of the notorious Manhattan Club.
Nancy also loved to give back to the community. She was a volunteer for Meals for Wheels, working for Historical Society events, and the voting polls for many years. Wherever there was a need, she volunteered.
She was a true Democrat! She was a member of the Newstead Democratic Committee. Winning the 2017 FDR Award in recognition for all she did for the community, family, and party. Nancy was honored with a day dedicated to her years of service.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, July 5, 2024 at St. Teresa of Avila Church, 5771 Buell Street, Akron, NY 14001. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Hospice Services, or Association of Former State Troopers.
