Mary Hohensee, a woman of unwavering faith and boundless love, went home to be with the Lord on May 20, 2024, at the age of 73. Born on June 18, 1950 in Buffalo, NY to the late Salvatore and Ruth (Campbell) Barone, Mary was a beacon of strength, love and encouragement to her family.
Mary's life was characterized by hard work, dedication, and service. During her professional career, she served as a long-distance operator for NY Telephone Company, office manager for two dental offices, and a senior tax advisor for H&R Block for 10 years before retiring. However, she often stated that her greatest achievement was her salvation in Christ in September 1976. This faith guided her throughout her life and was a source of comfort and strength. Her hobbies included quilting, writing, and sharing her love and faith with others.
Mary and Gordon Hohensee married on April 15, 1969, and were blessed with three children, Lisa (Chip) Schwartz, Michael (Laura) Hohensee, and Vicki (John) Lockhart. They, along with her cherished grandchildren, Benjamin Schwartz, Cherokee Fry, Charlotte Lockhart, and Gabriel Lockhart, are left to carry on her legacy of love and faith. Mary is also survived by her sister Paula (Jay) Fellows and many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her granddaughter, Ciera Schwartz.
