Mark Wayne Scrogg, a loving and funny soul who brightened up every room he entered, passed away on September 5, 2025. Born on September 20, 1952, in Buffalo, NY, Mark was a man of many passions and achievements. His zest for life was infectious, his sense of humor was irresistible, his love for his family and four-legged companions, Lucy Mae, Big, and Kiva was unparalleled.
Mark was a proud and dedicated member of the Laborers Union Local # 435 in Rochester, NY, where he spent his career in the construction industry. His work ethic was admirable, and his commitment to his craft was unwavering. He was a man who loved his work, but his passions extended far beyond the job site. Mark was a devout fan of the Blues, the Rochester Knighthawks, and the Kansas City Chiefs. He was an adventurer at heart, having traveled extensively throughout the United States. Mark was also a proud member of the Beaver Clan of the Tonawanda Indian Reservation and a Faith Keeper of the Long House, deeply rooted in his cultural heritage.
Survived by his native wife, Namée Bailey, his siblings, Amie Scrogg, Llavall Scrogg, and Lewis (Kim) Scrogg, as well as numerous nieces and nephews, Mark was a beloved figure within his family and his larger community. His good friends, Marvin Smoke, and Keith Bender, will remember his laughter and kindness. He is predeceased by his parents, Orlando Scrogg and Doris Sundown, his brothers, Grant Sundown, Freddie Ground, and his sisters, Mollie Sundown, Daphne Scrogg, Renee Scrogg, and Dora Scrogg.
The visitation will be held at the family residence at 192 Skye Rd., Basom, NY, starting Sunday until the time of Service at 1:00 PM, Monday, September 7, 2025. A Long House Service will follow at 2:00 PM.
