Marcia J. Gere

Marcia J. Gere, passed away on October 16, 2025. Born on September 15, 1942 in Auburn, New York, she spent her lifetime serving others with a heart full of joy and generosity. Marcia was a loving and devoted elementary school teacher, dedicating over two decades of her life to educating young minds at Akron Central School District. Her positive and happy spirit was contagious, and she was known for her tradition of giving little gifts, making everyone feel special and loved.

Marcia was a woman of many passions, but her love for children was the most profound. This love was not confined to her professional life; it extended to her personal life as well. She was a loving aunt to Chuck (Lony) Klein, Karyn Klein, Larry (Tete) Klein, and the late Paul (Nan) Klein. Her affection for her nieces and nephews was boundless, and she leaves behind a host of great-nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly. Marcia was preceded in death by her parents, James Gere and Dorothea Nichols Gere, and her sister, Shirley (Alvin) Klein.

A visitation will be held from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Wednesday, October 22, 2025 at First Baptist Church of Akron, 122 Main Street in Akron, with a Funeral Service to follow at 1:00 PM. Marcia's life was a testament to the power of love and positivity. Her legacy will live on through the countless lives she touched, both in and out of the classroom.
