Lorraine Sylvester

Sylvester, Lorraine – age 95 of Akron passed away peacefully on May 25, 2023.  She was born in Buffalo, NY on November 12, 1927 to the late Anthony and Victoria (Przybyl) Gapik.

Lorraine was a beacon of warmth and love to all fortunate enough to have known her. Her life was marked by her strength, resilience, and unwavering devotion to her family. Her passion for cooking and baking brought joy to those around her, while her love for crossword puzzles kept her sharp and engaged throughout her life.

Lorraine married the love of her life, Robert Sylvester, on October 21, 1950. Together, they built a home filled with laughter, joy, and the delicious aroma of Lorraine's incredible culinary creations. She was an exceptional housewife and dedicated her life to ensuring her family's happiness and well- being. Lorraine was a pillar of strength for her loved ones, and her presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Beloved mother of William and Kathleen Sylvester and son-in-law, Bill Dunphy; loving grandmother of Nicole (Anthony) Zicari, Danielle Slingsby, and Christy Sylvester; great-grandmother of Zachary Slingsby. Besides her husband Robert in 2015, Lorraine is predeceased by a daughter, Barbara Ann Dunphy and her brothers, Anthony (Delphine) Gapik and Daniel (Lorraine) Gapik.

Visitation will be Wednesday, May 31, 2023 from 5:00 - 8:00 PM at Ross Funeral Home of Akron, LLC, 10 Eckerson Avenue. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:00 AM, Thursday, June 1, 2023 at St. Teresa of Avila R.C. Church, 5771 Buell St., Akron.
