With profound sorrow, we announce the passing of Lisa Black, a devoted mother, grandmother, daughter, and caring friend. Born in Newstead, New York, on January 5, 1967, Lisa passed away on August 16, 2025. She was a resident of Akron, NY. Known for her vivacious spirit and kind heart, Lisa lived her life with an unmatched passion for her loved ones and her community.
Lisa dedicated a significant part of her life to the service of others, both professionally and in her personal life. She worked tirelessly as a Certified Nursing Assistant at the Batavia Veterans Home, where she extended compassion, comfort, and care to those who needed it most. Lisa's commitment to service extended beyond her profession. For 14 years, she served as a Firefighter and Emergency Medical Technician at the Newstead Fire Company, even holding the position of EMS captain. Her bravery, dedication, and unwavering commitment to helping others will always be remembered.
Outside of her work, Lisa was a woman of many passions. She loved the outdoors and found great joy in camping, fishing, and hunting. Her love for nature was matched by her passion for crafting and gardening. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who affectionately called her "MO".
“Lisa is survived by her children, Jason (Susan) Hake, Mackenzie (Samuel) Merando, and Elizabeth (Matthew) Allen; thirteen grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Her mother, brother, sisters, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends also survive her. She was predeceased by her father, David Black; stepfather, Dennis Hatswell; and sister, Dawn Rastelli.”
Lisa's zest for life, her love for her family, and her commitment to serving others defined her remarkable life. She touched the lives of many and will be deeply missed. We invite you to share your memories of Lisa and upload photos to her memorial page at rossakron.com.
