Laura Gray Obituary

Laura Stuart Gray, born on April 19, 1957, in Elmira, NY, passed away on January 26, 2025. Laura's life was one filled with love and dedication to her family and her career in health care. Through her work as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), she touched countless lives, providing comfort and care to those in need.

Laura was a devoted wife and cherished her marriage to Finley W. Gray, a love story that began on July 23, 1977. Together, they built a life filled with joy, laughter, and mutual respect. As a mother to Erin Gauss and Heather (Charles) Gray-Hinkley, Laura's love was boundless. Her pride in their accomplishments was evident to all who knew her. Laura's delight in her role as a grandmother was immeasurable. Aiden Gray-Baer and Finley Gray-Hinkley were the apples of her eye. Laura's siblings, Tom Stuart, Ed (Elizabeth) Stuart, and Ray (Patty) Stuart, will remember her as a sister who was always there for them, ready with a comforting word or a helping hand. Laura is also survived by her caregiver, Chanta Brayton, and her daughter, Emiah Brayton, both of whom have become like family.

In her leisure time, Laura found solace and joy in reading and needlepoint. Her creations, each one a testament to her patience and skill, will serve as lasting reminders of her. She was a woman of strength, kindness, and an unyielding love for her family. Laura was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Francis (Black) Stuart and a brother, Henry Stuart.

Her love, wisdom, and gentle spirit will forever be remembered and missed by those fortunate enough to have known her. We encourage those who knew Laura to leave their memories and upload photos to Laura's memorial page. In sharing these moments, we can help to keep her spirit alive and celebrate the life of a woman who meant so much to so many.
