Buffalo, NY — June Eleanor Hartman (nee Croad), 91 beloved mother, grandmother, and sister, went home to be with Christ our Lord and Savior on April 19, 2020 after a long battle with dementia. She was born on July 20, 1928 to the late Harry Croad and Alice Croad (nee Sanger) and was a lifelong resident of Western New York.
She leaves her devoted children, Tracy Mullen (Joseph), Charlene Hartman, Cheryl Putt (late Thomas), Michelle Hartman; sons, James Hartman, and the late Carl Hartman; siblings, Betty Calabretta (late Tony), Doris Rera (late Don), the late Arnold Croad, the late Ralph Croad. Several grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and many other relatives and friends survive June.
June worked as a Nurse’s Aide in her early years at Howell’s Nursing Facility in Lockport, NY and then later at Brothers of Mercy in Clarence, NY. June was good to the patients in her care and those that knew her loved her for the kindness and empathy she showed them. June met the late Fred F. Hartman in 1956 and they were married shortly thereafter. June proudly completed her High School Equivalency Diploma from The University of the State of New York in 1982. She attended Trinity Lutheran Church in Akron, NY and enjoyed spending time with her children and sisters. June loved animals, especially her dog Sadie. Many thanks to Deanna Krieb for adopting Sadie and giving her a loving home. June will be deeply missed by her family and the caring staff at Beechwood Continuing Care. Her sense of humor and funny faces could spark a giggle in anyone. She was loved by the Beechwood staff and was fondly given several nicknames including Junebug and Juniper.
Burial will take place on Thursday, April 23, 2020 at White Chapel Cemetery and a memorial service scheduled at a later date. June, never to be forgotten, will hold a special place in our hearts now and forever.
