Joan Phelps (nee Davies), loving wife, dedicated mother, loyal sister and friend, passed away peacefully on May 4, 2026. Born on December 18, 1942, Joan spent her life creating beautiful memories with those she held dear. Her life was enriched by the strong bonds she built and the love she shared, but nothing mattered more to her than her grandchildren, who were her world.
Joan was the beloved wife of the late Peter Phelps and the dear mother of Jill (David) Porter, Lance (Renee) Phelps, and Jackie (Dennis) Lotz. She was the cherished grandmother of Michael (Nicole) Porter, Jenna (Kyle) Shay, Dylan (Bethany) Phelps, Abigail (Sean) Menzies, and the great grandmother of Addison. Joan is also survived by her siblings, Shirley (late James) Stanley, James (late Shirley) Davies, the late Avis Weaver, Nina Scarborough, and Jack Davies, as well as her sister-in-law Nancy (late John) Geddes. Numerous nieces and nephews will also remember Joan's warmth and love.
Joan was a dedicated member of her community, holding the position of treasurer for Evergreen Lawn Cemetery for over 20 years. She was known for her love of cooking and baking, crafting beautiful flower arrangements, and her active involvement in the First United Methodist Church in Akron. Many will remember her for her love of her dog Jeter, and the joy she found in life's simple pleasures.
A Visitation will be held on Friday, May 15, 2026 from 4-8 PM at ROSS FUNERAL HOME OF AKRON, LLC., 10 Eckerson Ave., Akron, NY.
