Janice L. Nixon

Janice L. Nixon passed away peacefully, on September 22, 2020. Janice was born in Olean, New York on March 11, 1943 to the late Richard and Ila (Kennedy) Johannes.

She and her late husband of over 46 years, John Nixon, married in 1966. Together they shared their passion for travel, including Europe, cruises, and Disney. She loved all needlework,  her favorites being quilting and sewing. A group of her friends would often take trips to Stella Niagara for quilting and sewing retreats.

She is survived by her children; Barbara (Lawrence) DeClerck, Jean (Dale) Gates, Donna (David) Blish, Douglas (Amy) Hersee, Teresa (Fred) Clabo, Tamara (George) Geyer seven grandchildren Kristen, Kelsey, Freddie, Sandy, Andrew, Megan and Jennifer.  One great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews also survive her. Husband John and granddaughter, Stephanie Frey predecease her.

Friends and relatives may call from 3 pm to 6 p.m. on Saturday, September 26, at Ross Funeral Home of Akron, LLC, 10 Eckerson Avenue. Funeral services will be private. The family would appreciate memorials made in Janice’s name to:the Newstead Fire Company, 5801 Cummings Rd., Akron, NY 14001.
