James Lobur Obituary

James R. Lobur, 90, of Akron, New York, born on May 24, 1935 in Cortland, NY, passed away on December 24, 2025. He honorably served in the U.S. Army from 1958 to 1960 and was a respected member of the community, known for his dedication to service during his tenure as a New York State trooper. Following his retirement from the NYSP, James served as an Investigator with the United States Defense Investigative Service. He was a proud member of the LL Tillman Post #900, and the Akron Masonic Lodge. When not in service, he enjoyed hunting, camping, and the freedom of riding his Harley.

On July 30, 1955, James married Roberta (Kinne) Lobur. Their love story spanned over 68 years, building a family that cherished him. He was a loving father to Ronald (Cynthia) Lobur, Richard Lobur, and Thomas (Jennifer) Lobur. James was also a cherished grandfather of Sarah, Rebekah (Jacob), Adam, Amanda (Calvin), Nicole (Kierstyn), Jessica, and Aaron, and the proud great-grandfather of Cora and Lindy. In addition to his children and grandchildren, he leaves behind several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Alexander Lobur and Norma (Spore) Lobur and his wife, Roberta Lobur.

A Graveside Service with Military Honors will be held on Friday, May 29, 2026, at the WNY National Cemetery in Corfu, NY at 1:00 PM. James's life was marked by dedication, service, and love for his family. His memory will continue to inspire all who knew him. Charitable contributions may be made in James' memory to Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church of South Newstead, 4809 S. Newstead Rd., Akron, NY 14001.
