James E. Bradfield was born on September 3, 1956, in Batavia, NY, to the late Donald and Carolyn Bradfield. James passed away on May 7, 2024, at the age of 67. A long-time resident of Akron, NY, James was a dedicated husband, father, and grandfather who cherished his family above all else.
He married the love of his life, Cheryl Marquardt, on April 25, 1975, and together they built a family that was his pride and joy. James had a rewarding career at Perry's Ice Cream Company, where he worked as a Mix Man in the manufacturing sector until his retirement. He was a proud member of the American Legion L.L. Tillman Post 900 for many years and served on the U.S.S. Nimitz, reflecting his commitment to his community and his country. James had a passion for all music, especially Elvis. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. His love for family vacations created cherished memories for his loved ones.
In addition to his wife, Cheryl, James is survived by his children, Jamie (Laura) Bradfield and Alicia (Tom) Higgins; his siblings, Donald (Cindy) Bradfield, Susan Ribbick, Judy (John) Darling, Nancy Woodrow, and Sandy (Bobby) Houdomint. He was a cherished grandfather of Shaelyn, Xander, Katelyn, Andrew, Anna, and Makayla, and a proud great-grandfather of one. James is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, and nephews.
Calling hours will be held on Saturday, May 11, 2024, from 10:30 AM to 2:00 PM at Ross Funeral Home of Akron located at 10 Eckerson Avenue, Akron, New York, 14001. The funeral service will follow at the same location at 2:00 PM. We invite you to share your memories and photos of James on the memorial page.
