James E. Barrett

James E. Barrett, a spirited and dedicated man, passed away on August 31, 2026. Born on August 4, 1941, Jim, as he was affectionately known, was a man of unwavering dedication, having retired from the Attica Correctional Facility after an illustrious career spanning 34 years. His life was marked by a firm commitment to his work, but what mattered most to Jim was his family.

Jim is survived by his beloved wife, Marie (nee Petry) and his loving children: Lorie Wawrzyniak, Patty (Steve) Charles, and Jimmy Barrett Jr. He was also a dear step-father to Floyd (Cindy) Froebel Jr., Bonnie (late John) Swimline, Sherry (Richard) Spaich, Shelly (Bill) Bucci, Rod (Gail) Froebel, and Scott Froebel. A cherished grandfather and great-grandfather, Jim held a special place in the hearts of his many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great great grandchild. He leaves behind his siblings, Kathy and David Barrett, who will miss his spirited presence.

Private services for family and close friends will be held on Friday at 11 AM at Highpoint Community Church, 1163 Main Rd., Corfu. Arrangements were made by Ross Funeral Home of Akron, LLC.
