Hideko Kenyon passed away peacefully on April 21, 2020. She was born and raised in Okinawa, Japan. Her given name was Hideko. She later took the nickname Hide.
Okinawa is where she would meet and marry her sweetheart, Walter H. Kenyon while he was stationed there before moving to America. They had three children: Kevin (Carolyn) Kenyon, Kani (Rene) Tucciarone, and Kathy (Greg) Pequeen. She loved her family dearly. She is predeceased by her beloved Walter (2002) and her dear daughter, Kani.
Hide spent her early days providing child care for the neighborhood kids. Her love for children never wavered and was seen in the love that she had for her 6 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. Even well into her eighties she could still be found giggling while having a pillow fight or rolling around with one of her great grandchildren and having to be reminded to take it easy so she wouldn’t hurt herself. Hide was the sweetest person whose smile just radiated from ear to ear. She was a longtime member of Akron First United Methodist Church.
Burial will be at Evergreen Lawn Cemetery. Arrangements were made by Ross Funeral Home of Akron, LLC.
