Francis Jerome (Butch) Schumacher, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on November 30, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on June 26, 1939, to Francis Schumacher and Arline Staebell, who instilled in him the values of hard work, kindness, and dedication that shaped his life.
For 66 years, Butch was the devoted husband of Norma Stanley Schumacher, the love of his life and partner in all things. Together they built a family rooted in love, resilience, and unwavering support.
Butch was the cherished father of Debbie Whiting, Bill Schumacher (Kathy), and the late Laura Schumacher. He was a proud and loving grandfather to Andrew Whiting (Emily), Benjamin Whiting (Kathryn), Emily Whiting Macht (Alex), Marianne Hurley (Jon), Nick Schumacher (Malinda), Brad Schumacher, and Talon Westman. His legacy lives on in his eight great-grandchildren, who brought him immense joy. He was the dear brother of the late Tom (Sharon) Schumacher, the late Marie Schumacher, John (Karen) Schumacher, Joe (Cheryl) Schumacher, Teresa Warner (late Rick), and Tony (late Mary Jo) Schumacher, and the cherished uncle to many nieces and nephews.
Butch worked for many years as a machinist at Harrison Radiator, where he was respected for his skill, precision, and dedication. Outside of work, he embraced every opportunity to pursue the hobbies he loved. He was a racing enthusiast, an avid fisherman, and a talented car restorer who could bring new life to any engine. Above all, he loved being “Papo” — a role that filled his days with laughter, purpose, and pride. Butch lived his final days as he lived his life: surrounded by the people who loved him most. He will be remembered for his steady presence, his generous heart, and the countless ways he supported, guided, and uplifted his family.
