Floyd Rehwaldt, born on January 6, 1943, in Batavia, New York, passed away peacefully on January 8, 2026. For the majority of his life, Floyd resided in Akron, New York, where he was known and loved by his community. A dedicated husband, Floyd celebrated 65 years of marriage with his loving wife, Barbara Rehwaldt, after tying the knot on February 25, 1961.
Floyd was a hardworking mill operator who dedicated 18 years to Simonds Saw and Steel in Lockport, New York. After the company closed, he went on to work for Dawydko Farms for 30 years, remaining there until his retirement. His commitment to his work was mirrored in his dedication to his community. Floyd served as the President and Chief of the Wolcottsville Fire Company for many years, and was one of the original founders of the Wolcottsville Sportsman's Club. His service was recognized by his community, awarding him a Benevolent Member for 65 years. Despite his commitment to work and community, what mattered most to Floyd was his family. In his spare time, he could often be found hunting, fishing, or simply spending quality time with his loved ones.
Floyd is survived by his wife Barbara; his children, Floyd G. (Dawn) Rehwaldt, Jr., Marcia Brogan, Janet (Shawn) Ingalsbe, Beverly Rehwaldt, Cheryl (Dan Madden) Rehwaldt; his sister, Dorthea (Fred) Jago; his sister-in-law, Norma Rehwaldt; seven cherished grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Anna (Bruning) Rehwaldt, and brothers, Francis, Laverne, and Robert Rehwaldt. Floyd's memory will live on through his family, his friends, and the countless lives he touched throughout his time in Akron.
A Visitation will be held at St. Michael's Lutheran Church in Wolcottsville on Monday, January 12, 2025 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm with a Funeral Service immediately following.
