Faith Marie Bassanello

Faith Marie Bassanello, of Akron, NY, passed away peacefully on November 16, 2022 at Brothers of Mercy Nursing Home in Clarence, NY. She was Born in Buffalo, NY on August 26, 1927 to the late Thomas and Lillian (Coyle) Caulfield.

Faith was a 1946 graduate of Mt. St. Joseph Academy. She continued her education at Sisters Hospital School of Nursing and became a Registered Nurse and later taught at the school. Her career at Sisters Hospital spanned more than 40 years until she retired as a night supervisor in 1989. Faith was a devoted Bills and Sabres fan and longtime season ticket holder. She was also an ardent animal lover and supporter. 

Beloved mother of James (Laurie) Reilly, Denise Reilly, Sean Reilly, and Patrick (Karen) Reilly; loving stepmother of Michael (Sandra) Bassanello, Patricia (Lynn) Childs-Schafer and Mary Joy Bassanello; cherished grandmother of Jared Childs, Meghan Reilly, Bryan Reilly, Daniel Reilly, Colleen Lauer, Sean Lauer, Colton Reilly, Leigha Reilly, James Hammond, Ellen Schafer, Adam Schafer, Morgan Edwards, and Deegan Lotz. Proud great grandmother of 5. Faith is also survived by many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by two husbands, James B. Reilly and Adolph C. Bassanello; a brother, Dr.Thomas Caulfield and a sister, Denise Needham.

Friends and relatives may call on Tuesday, November 22, 2022 from 4 - 8 PM at Ross Funeral Home of Akron, LLC., 10 Eckerson Avenue, Akron, NY 14001. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, November 23, 2022 at 10 AM. at St. Teresa’s Church, 5771 Buell Street Akron, New York (please assemble at church). Burial in Holy Cross Cemetery, Lackawanna, NY. Donations may be made in Faith’s memory to the S.P.C.A. or any local animal shelters of your choice.
