Emerson Webster, fondly known as "Amo," passed away peacefully on January 21, 2026, at the age of 74. Born on April 1, 1951, Amo was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend to many. His love and dedication to his family, community, and culture were the cornerstones of his life.
Amo was a dedicated worker, having served as a truck driver for Golding in Lockport, NY, for many years before his retirement. His love for driving didn't stop at work; he was a passionate fan of stock car racing. However, his roles in life went far beyond his professional career. Emerson was a respected member and chief of the Turtle Clan of the Tonawanda Indian Reservation since 1981, where he dutifully upheld his responsibilities and cared deeply for his people. His hobbies and interests were a reflection of his loving nature, with a profound love for the Longhouse and his duties as chief.
Emerson is survived by his loving wife, Lois Webster (nee Pierce); his daughters, Betty Jo Webster, Monica Webster, Toni Cummings, Erin Webster (Gustave Willis); and stepson, Brian Pierce. His legacy continues through his 15 grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren, and 9 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings, Barb Shiro, Betty Rogers, Ralph Webster, and June Peters. Emerson's love and dedication extended to all he knew, and he will be greatly missed. He was preceded in death by his parents, Eurban Webster and Elvira Peters, and his brother, Raymond Webster.
Friends and family may gather at the family residence, 441 Bloomingdale Rd., Akron NY from 5:00 PM, Thursday, January 22, 2025 until 1:00 PM on Saturday, January 24th where a Funeral Service will take place. A 2:00 PM Long House Service will follow.
Amo's life was marked by his love for his family and community, and he leaves behind a legacy of dedication, commitment, and love. He was a loving individual who will forever be remembered for his warmth, kindness, and unwavering commitment to his loved ones. Those who wish to pay their respects and share their memories of Emerson are encouraged to upload photos and leave memories on his memorial page.
