Douglas Ceisner Obituary

Douglas P. Ceisner, affectionately known as Doug, passed away peacefully on February 20, 2024 under the excellent care of the NYS Veteran’s Home in Batavia. He was born on July 5, 1942, in Buffalo, New York, to the late Theodore and Emma (Morgan) Ceisner.  Doug proudly served as a Sergeant, US Marines, active duty in Vietnam  from 1965-67. He was most proud of this service.

Doug was a man of many talents, but his most notable contribution was in the building trades. As a dedicated plumber, he served his community with integrity, and a level of professionalism that earned him respect and admiration from his peers. Even after his retirement, Doug's wisdom and experience remained a beacon of guidance for those who followed his footsteps in the profession.

In his personal life, Doug's passions were diverse . A lifelong member of the VFW, past master of the Mason Lodge, past commander of the American Legion, past Town Councilman,  and Akron Fireman, his dedication to service was truly inspiring. Doug's love for collecting antiques brought him joy, a testament to his appreciation for history and the stories of the past. He was a pillar of strength and resilience in his community.

Loving father of John (Kimberlee) Babcock; cherished grandfather of Kenneth (Colleen) Babcock and Joseph Babcock; proud great grandfather of Quinn Babcock;  brother of Gregory Ceisner. Doug was preceded in death by his loving wife, Joyce Ceisner, and his brother, Bruce Ceisner.

Funeral Services will be private at the convenience of the family. There will be a private Burial Service with Military Honors in the WNY National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Doug's memory to a Veteran's organization of one's choice. We invite you to share your memories and upload photos of Douglas on his memorial page.
