Doris “Dottie” Hazel Waite passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 23, 2024 at the age of 96 at Elderwood. She was born in Lockport, NY on September 28, 1927.
She leaves behind several cousins in Massachusetts and all the caring friends at Briarwood and Elderwood as well as Laurie George and her family who made sure Dottie was well cared for. She was predeceased by her parents Clarence and Olive (Bartlett) Waite and her sister Sybil.
A homemaker most of her life, she did house-keeping at the YWCA in her younger years and helped with the family business, Waite’s Posey Patch. She attended First and Second Presbyterian Churches faithfully and helped with the Girl Scouts. Dottie was always in good spirits and made friends everywhere she went. Her hobbies were painting, dancing, bowling, baseball, swimming, and horseback riding. She was very grateful to those who helped her live a wonderful life.
A Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 2nd, 2024 from 4:00 to 6:00 PM at Ross Funeral Home of Akron, LLC. In lieu of flowers, Charitable contributions may be made in Dottie's memory to WNY Challenger Sports, C/O Jim Mazur, 5827 Sandy Lane, Lockport, NY 14094.
