Dolores Whiting Obituary

It is with deep respect and affection that we mark the passing of a beloved member of the Whiting family. Dolores (Dee) passed away on October 2, 2025, just shy of her 95th birthday. Not only the matriarch of the Whiting family, her legacy is woven into the fabric of Whiting Door company history, through her unwavering support of its early days and through the warmth, humor, and spirit she brought to everyone who knew her. Sassy and sharp-witted, she had a knack for lighting up a room with her quick comebacks, often catching people off guard in the best possible way.

Her education included time at the Catholic University in Washington, DC and she worked as an RN at Sisters Hospital before raising a family.

As a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt or friend she was nothing short of extraordinary. Her home was a haven of warmth, cookies, and unconditional love. Whether she was sharing stories from the early days or playfully teasing her great grandchildren, she did it all with a sparkle in her eye and a loving heart. She had a gift for making each family member feel treasured —  through a handwritten note, a shared secret, or a thoughtful gift. Her legacy lives on in their stories and the values she helped to instill in them.

Loving mother of Donald (Nancy Hoak) Whiting, Jr. and Michael (Marybeth) Whiting; cherished grandmother of Andrew (Emily) Whiting, Benjamin (Katie) Whiting, Alexandria (Eric Sattelberg) Whiting, Philip (Amanda) Whiting, Emily (Alex) Macht; proud great-grandmother of 10 plus 2 on the way! She is also survived by her nieces, Sue (Gregg) Brown, Nancy (Keith) Dawydko, and Laura (Dave) Case; and a sister-in law, Laura Mattioli. Daughter of the late Angelo and Ruth (nee Paine) Bartelli, Dolores is preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, Donald Whiting, her sister, Audrey Brackett and nephew, Dale Brackett.
