With profound sorrow, we announce the passing of Dr. David M. Wiechec, a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, & great-grandfather, who left us on December 29, 2025. Born in 1947, in North Tonawanda, NY, Dave, resided in Akron, New York at the time of his passing. He embodied the virtues of generosity and life-long learning, leaving a lasting impact on his family.
David had a distinguished career as a Radiologist at the Veterans Administration/ US Gov., where he worked until his retirement in 2013. His brilliance and dedication were evident in his achievements. He held the position of Clinical Asst Professor at the University of Buffalo Medical School and served as preceptor at the VA Hospital for medical students, making significant contributions to the field of medicine. David was also a member of Mt. Olive Lutheran Church where he previously served as an Elder. Despite his professional accomplishments, what mattered most to David was his family, especially his grandchildren. He was a well-read man, known for his love of stock trading, exercising and playing games with his family — always intending to win! A dedicated Buffalo Bills fan, David also enjoyed traveling and wintering in Myrtle Beach.
David leaves behind his loving wife of 55 years, Katherine Wiechec. He was the loving father to Anthony (Brandi) Wiechec, Emily (Daniel) Conlon, and Jennifer (Nicholas) Bunk. He was a cherished grandfather to Samantha, Angela and Adam Bunk, Chloe and Carter Wiechec, Tevye (Erica) Maslowski, Gavin and Peyton Lyness. He also was a proud great grandfather to Lila and Luca Maslowski. He is also survived by his brother, Donald (Alice) Wiechec and was preceded in death by his parents, Anthony and Freida Wiechec.
Funeral services will be private at the convenience of the family. Arrangements were made by Ross Funeral Home of Akron, LLC. In lieu of flowers, contributions to Mt. Olive Lutheran Church are graciously accepted. We invite you to share your personal memories, photographs, and sentiments of David on his memorial page at rossakron.com.
