David J. Gerner

David J. Gerner, 91, of Williamsville, NY, passed away on July 10, 2026. He was born in Buffalo, NY, on November 23, 1934 to the late Donald and Mildred Gerner. 

David proudly served his country in the U.S. Army from 1957 to 1959. Following his military service, he began a career at the General Motors Tonawanda Engine Plant, where he worked as a laborer for the next 40 years. David retired from General Motors, leaving a lasting impact on his co-workers and the many lives he touched throughout his career.

David is survived by his beloved wife of 36 years, Jean Gerner. His children Russell (Theresa) Gerner, Craig (Cindy) Gerner, and Barry Gerner; his sister Phyllis (late Hank) Kriegbaum; his grandchildren, Keola (Hope) Gerner, Victoria (Carson) Brown, and Daniel Gerner; his great-grandchildren Braxton, Logan, Leiah, Amelia, Calvin, and Vanessa. His niece, Colleen Plewniak and nephew, Bobby Moynahan, 5 great nephews, 1 great niece, 5 great-great nieces and 6 great-great nephews also survive David. David was preceded in death by his first wife, Barbara Eggert and his brother, Ralph (Mary) Gerner. 

Friends and Family may call on Saturday, August 1st from 1:00-3:00 pm at Ross Funeral Home of Akron LLC. 10 Eckerson Ave., Akron, NY 14001, where a Funeral Service with Military Honors will follow at 3:00 pm.
