Darwin L. Hill

Darwin L. Hill passed away on February 24, 2026 just a few days shy of his 87th birthday. He was born on February 27, 1939 to the late William Hill and Delphine Blackchief.

Darwin worked for 30 years for the Council of Chiefs and was a strong advocate for the Haudenosaunee at the U.N. He was a proud member of the Beaver Clan and was also sub-Chief to the Hawk Clan. Darwin had a commitment to duty, integrity, and community throughout his life and was a 20 year Air Force Veteran. He was a devoted family man, cherished grandfather of 9 and great-grandfather of 10, who brought him immense pride and joy.

Beloved husband of Janette (nee Sundown); dear father of Roger (Antoinette) Hill; loving grandfather of Joie Hill, Gwenie (Cam Seneca) Hill, Gabrielle (Robert) Carrier, Chaunce (Quoya Chubb) Hill, Owen (Dayedas Johnathan) Hill, Helena (Alijah Ellis) Hill, Ella Hill, Trace Hill, and Brodie Hill; great-grandfather of Maddie, Tanner, Ganowis, Violet, Theo, Bub, Haoka, Luna, Ennie, Aizen, and the late Lily; brother of Loren Jones, Audrey Hill, the late William Hill, Phyllis Hill, Malcom Hill, Hiram Jones, Carrie Corey, JP Jones, Kathy Hill and Murray Hill; also survived by nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Friends and family may gather at the family residence, 7060 Meadville Rd., Tonawanda Seneca Nation from 5:00 PM, Wednesday, February 25, 2026  until 1:00 PM on Friday, February 27th where a Funeral Service will take place. A  2:00 PM Long House Service will follow.
