Cynthia M. Swader

Cynthia M. Swader, more affectionately known as Cindy, passed away on August 28, 2024. She was born in Buffalo, NY to the late Cecil and Katherine (Mitchell) Roland on May 20, 1950. A longtime resident of Akron, NY, Cindy was a beloved figure within her community. Married to Richard Swader since August 1, 1970, their love story was one of enduring companionship and shared joy that spanned over five decades.
 

Cindy retired from AAkron Rule Company where she worked as a supervisor. She was a woman of industrious nature and brought the same dedication and attention to detail that she exhibited at work to her hobbies, which included gardening and sewing dresses and blankets. There was rarely a moment when she was not tending to her vibrant garden, baking with her grandchildren, or creating intricate designs with her sewing. As John Ruskin once said, "When love and skill work together, expect a masterpiece," and each of Cindy's creations was indeed a masterpiece.
 

Cindy was an active member of her community and served as a lifetime member of the Newstead Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary. Her dedication to service and community was a testament to her kind heart and generous spirit.
 

Cindy is survived by her loving husband Richard; their children Scott (Wendy) Swader, Shelly (Steven) Schleef and Derek (Crystal) Swader; and her cherished grandchildren, Amanda, Lauren and Cara Swader, Ryan (Alexis) Schleef, Sara Schleef, Skyler Holzman, Gracie and Evie Swader. She is also survived by her sister, Cheryl (Joseph) Monaco and brother in law, Ronald (Darlyne) Swader and several nieces and nephews.
 

Friends and family are invited to Newstead Fire Company on Saturday, September 7th from 1:00-3:00pm, with a short service at 3:00. Cindy's legacy of love, hard work, and commitment to her family and community will live on in the hearts of those who knew her.
