Cheryl L. Winiewicz, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on June 21, 2023. She was born in Buffalo, New York on May 12, 1949 to the late John Woods and Gertrude (Vampotic) Gilligan.
Cheryl was a witty, generous, and loving person who deeply cherished her family, especially her grandchildren. She had a keen sense of humor, often displaying her sarcastic wit. In her leisure time, Cheryl enjoyed birdwatching and attending the theater. She was a season ticket holder at Shea's Buffalo, where she would regularly attend performances. Her kind spirit and love for her grandchildren were the foundation of her life, and she will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Beloved mother of Jennifer Wurtz, Anne (Sean) McCormick, and Dana (Israel) Winiewicz; cherished grandmother of Madison Wurtz, Casey Wurtz, Kyle McCormick, and Kara McCormick; dear sister of Gary (Sharon) Woods; fond aunt of many nieces and nephews.
Calling hours for Cheryl will be held on Friday, the 7th of July, 2023, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Ross Funeral Home of Akron, located at 10 Eckerson Avenue, Akron, New York, 14001. We encourage friends and family to join us in remembering Cheryl's life and sharing cherished memories.
