Charles Fairbanks, fondly known as "Chuck" by his friends and family, was born on May 22, 1951, in Endicott, NY, and drew his last breath on December 22, 2023. A beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, and friend, Chuck was a remarkable individual whose warmth and charisma touched everyone he knew.
Chuck was a dedicated transportation specialist, a profession he pursued with passion and integrity throughout his working years. His love for his work was only rivaled by his adoration for his family and his hobbies. He had a special knack for music, often filling the rooms of his Alden, NY home with melodious tunes from his guitar and his soulful voice.
Charles is survived by his loving wife of over 53 years, Sandra Fairbanks, and his cherished children, Tina Swader, Melissa (Mark) Bruning, and Micah (Amy) Fairbanks. He was a doting grandfather to his nine grandchildren, Deanna (Brian) Hollfelder, Raymond (Erica Lotz) Richards, Crystalynn Fairbanks, Ryan (Erin) Richards, Jessica Albee, Tyler (Carina Scalice) Bruning, Jacob Fairbanks, Vincent (Amanda Prichard) and Charles Jaroszewski and four great-grandchildren, Bailey, Roman, Brian, and Emma. His brothers John (Martha) Fairbanks, Rodney (Brent) Fairbanks, and sister Susanne (Robert) Klock, along with many nieces and nephews, also survive him. He is preceded in death by his parents, Asa and Marjorie Fairbanks, brother Jerry Fairbanks, and sister Carol Ward.
A memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family. We encourage you to leave memories and upload photos to the memorial page as a way to pay tribute to Charles' life.
