Carrie Brockway

Carrie Brockway, 88 went home to be with the Lord on May 20, 2018. Carrie was born in Akron on November 22, 1929 to the late George (Big Steve) and Carrie (George) Abraham.

Carrie is the last of the" Abraham Girls". The family owned and operated the Newstead Hotel in Akron for many years. She was a graduate of Akron Central High School and then went on to University of Buffalo to earn her bachelor’s degree. She worked as an executive secretary at Harrison Radiator and LVD Strippit. She was devoted to her family and friends, especially her nephews.

Several nephews survive her. Her husband, Don Brockway; brothers and sisters Abe, Martha, Jenny, Joe, Mary, and Sadie predecease Carrie.

A Funeral Service will take place 11 a.m. on Friday June 1, 2018 at Ross Funeral Home of Akron, LLC, 10 Eckerson Avenue Akron. The family would appreciate memorials made in Carrie’s name to Akron First United Methodist Church, 7 Church Street Akron, New York 14001
