During this time he was awarded medals including the U.S. Marine Corps Combat Aircrew Badge with three stars, The Air Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and the Philippine Republic Presidential Unit Citation, which was earned during disaster relief operations. While serving stateside he was with Marine Helicopter Squadron 1 (HMX-1) in Washington, D.C.

After his time in the Marine Corps. Breneman returned home in 1973, during which time he developed a love for motorcycles. He would later meet his wife, Patricia, and raise his children, Megan and Arlee in the surrounding area. He worked at Harrison Radiator and later Delphi, retiring as an EAP representative. His free time was filled with his family, traveling and attending his grandsons’ sporting and school events. He was an avid fan of the Tonawanda Braves Lacrosse team, playing for the reservation in his youth and coaching as well.
