Barbara P. Wight

Barbara P. Wight (Spaeth), passed away on November 19, 2020. She was born in Newstead, NY on September 4, 1926 to the late Christian and Sara (Bennet) Spaeth.

She was a 1943 graduate of Akron Central High School; she then continued her schooling at Bryant and Stratton. She married the late Gerald Wight in 1953. She worked as a clerk for the Village of Akron, Perry’s Dairy, and Pixleys and was a proud member of the First Baptist Church, where she was a secretary for many years. She loved cooking and baking for her family. For everyone that knew Barb and Jerry they knew that their house was always open, coffee was on, and there would be food. Many lives were touched in the Akron community, between the farm and their church involvement. 

Barbara is survived by her loving children, Dale (Sandy) Wight, Brian (Linda) Wight, Wayne Wight, and Beverly (Thomas) Noody. Beloved grandmother of eight and great-grandmother of fourteen. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Friends and relatives may call on Sunday, November 22, 2020 from 2 to 5 PM at the Ross Funeral Home of Akron, LLC. A Funeral Service will be held Monday, November 23 at 11AM at the First Baptist Church of Akron. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Akron.
