Arnold “Bugs” Stegman passed away on December 25, 2020 following a brief illness. Born in Akron on January 7, 1932 to Harry and Mary (Carpenter), he was predeceased by his siblings Donald (June) Stegman, Elaine (Gordon) Dieterle, and Phyllis (John) Trigilio.
Bugs was a 1950 graduate of Akron High School and went on to serve our country honorably in the United States Army in Korea (1952-1954). He married MaryAnn Kolenko in 1956. They were married for 56 years at the time of her death in 2013. He worked for U.S. Gypsum, retiring in 1994 and was a member of the VFW and the American Legion. Arnold liked taking long walks with his buddy Petey, enjoyed a good laugh, the New York Yankees, the Buffalo Bills, and a nice cold beer. He liked to draw and listen to classic jazz, especially Billie Holiday and Sarah Vaughan, but mostly he loved spending time at home with his family.
Beloved father of Laurel (late George) Voigt and Leslie (late William) Gates as well as his grandchildren Shaun Voigt, Leah Gates, Jessica Gates, Jared Voigt, and Danielle Voigt; proud great-grandfather of Taylor and Tori Voigt. Bugs is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
A Graveside Service with Military Honors will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, July 20, 2021 at St. Teresa's Cemetery, 13482 Bloomingdale Rd., Akron, NY 14001.
