Walter V. ("Bunk") Babiarz

Walter V. Babiarz "Bunk" of Akron passed suddenly on June 4, 2017. He was born in Batavia, NY on December 3,1960 to Patricia (Swarts) Babiarz and the late Walter Babiarz, Sr.

After graduating Akron High School Class of 1979, he married the love of his life, Laurie (Sweitzer) on July 2, 1982.  Bunk lived to serve his family, friends, and community and worked for the State of New York as a Department of Transportation Inspector.  As a member of the Western New York Bass Masters Club among several other anglers associations, to say Bunk had a passion for fishing is an understatement.  He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends out on the water, tinkering around with his lures, and watching tournaments- if he wasn't fishing in them. Bunk's love for his family was displayed in many forms, as attested by all who knew him.  Regular family vacations to Disneyworld with Laurie and his family played a starring role in his passion. Bunk's laid back attitude and approach to life was contagious to all those he met and will forever be remembered and missed to infinity and beyond.

Besides his mother, his loving wife of thirty-five years, Laurie (Sweitzer) Babiarz; his children, Jeff (Erin) Babiarz of North Tonawanda, Jon (Kaitlyn) Babiarz of Akron and Amanda (Shawn) Johnson of Tonawanda; four cherished grandchildren, Kira, Paityn, Silas Babiarz and Jack Falker all survive Walter.  He is also survived by two sisters, Melissa Babiarz and Lynn (David) Roper of Akron, as well as many friends.

Friends and relatives may call from 5 p.m to 9 p.m on Friday, June 9, 2017 at Ross Funeral Home of Akron, LLC, 10 Eckerson Avenue, Akron.  A Funeral Service will take place at the Zion Lutheran Church, 9535 Clarence Center Road, Clarence Center on Saturday, June 10th, 2017 at 11 am.
