Shirley Koss

Shirley Koss of Akron passed away on August 15, 2017. She was born on April 7, 1934 to the late Raymond and Ruth (Carpenter) Pixley.

Shirley graduated from Akron High School in 1951 and married the late Joseph Koss two years later. She worked as a seam-stress for Filtration Unlimited in Akron for many years. She was a member of St. Teresa's Church R. C. and the Akron Newstead Senior Center. She could always be found reading, doing cross-stitch, or working on a puzzle. She especially loved camping in the Adirondacks and looked forward to Bingo with the ladies on Friday.

Shirley is survived by two sons, Joseph, Jr. (Emily) Koss of Lockport and Brian (Peggy) Koss of Holland; her daughters, Mary (Wayne) Childs of Akron and Jean (Patrick) Rost of Cary, NC. eleven grandchildren: Matthew, Katie, Joseph, Aurora, Andrew, Megan, Nicholas, Alex, Sean, Eric, and Kaelin; four great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by two brothers, Roger and Bruce Pixley and one sister, Jean Pixley. 

Friends and relatives may call on Sunday, August 20, 2017 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Ross Funeral Home of Akron, LLC, 10 Eckerson Avenue. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 a.m. on Monday at St.Teresa of Avila Catholic Church with a burial to follow at St.Teresa's Cemetery. Please assemble at church.
