Leonard "Mel" Clary

Leonard "Mel" Clary passed away suddenly on August 16, 2017.  Mel was born in Akron on January 9, 1937 to the late Donald and Avis (Garry) Clary.

Mel was a 1955 graduate of Akron High School. He married Joyce Kranz three years later and they raised three children together. Mel was a member of the Akron Fire Department and Jaycee’s. He also was one of the founders of Akron Sports. He enjoyed golfing and watching the Yankees. One of his greatest passions was high school sports, he followed them all.

Besides his wife of almost 60 years, his children David (Nancy) Clary of Medina and Debbie Clary of Depew survive Mel. He is also survived by five grandchildren Tyler (Christy), Priscilla (Mark), Josh, Keith, Christian; three great-grandchildren Bella, Addisyn, Emmaline and several nieces and nephews. Mel's daughter, Darcia Clary and sister, Joan McNutt predecease him.

Friends and relatives may call from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, August 21, 2017 at Ross Funeral Home of Akron, LLC, 10 Eckerson Avenue with a funeral service immediately following at 7:00 p.m.
