Joyce C. Hoste, of Akron, died after a short illness on Sunday, March 18, 2018. She was born in Akron on January 20,1934 to the late Kenneth O. and Helen (Shepard) Pixley.
Wife of the late Robert Hoste; mother of Carolyn (Dale) Lundberg, Penelope (James) DeYoung, Timothy (Lori) Childs, Paris Childs, Joanna Childs, Allen (Michelle) Childs, and the late Laurence Childs; grandmother of Dana (Kathy), Marc (Danielle), Jeffery (Kathryn), Ashley (Trey), Jared, Jenna (Aaron), Ryan, Christina (Matt), Desiree, Emily, Natalie, and Lauren; great-grandmother of Mason, Madalyn, and Simon; sister of Joan (Tom) Lotz and aunt to many nieces and nephews.
Joyce was a lifetime member of the First Baptist Church in Akron, where she taught Sunday school for many years. She was also a member of the Akron-Newstead and Wolcottsville Seniors, as well as an Auxiliary member for the Wolcottsville Fire Department and a Cub Scout den mother for several years. Joyce was the assistant manager of the Akron Village Restaurant. She was an avid baker who was known for her hot cross buns.
Friends and relatives may call from 4 to 6 p.m. on Friday March 23, 2018 at Ross Funeral Home of Akron, LLC, 10 Eckerson Avenue, Akron. A Funeral Service will take place at the First Baptist Church on Saturday, at 11 am. (Please assemble at church), Burial will follow at Pioneer Cemetery. The family would appreciate donations in Joyce’s name to the First Baptist Church of Akron or the American Heart Association.
