Edward M. Hartranft, 75, of Akron, entered in to peaceful rest, surrounded by family at the Erie County Medical Center on May 28, 2018. Eddie was born in Batavia on December 19, 1942 to the late Edward Sr. and Mary (Bower) Hartranft.
Eddie attended Akron Central School and worked up until his retirement for the New York State Department of Transportation as a driver and supervisor. He was an avid outdoors man and a longtime member of the NRA. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and bird watching. One of his favorite past times was collecting antique glass jars and hunting for arrowheads. Eddie loved to spend time with family and friends, especially his grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
He is survived by his children, Kerry (Wesley) Hartranft and Ryan (Rachel) Sundown (Hartranft), Grandchildren; Kamryn Hartranft, Justine Bidell, Canyon Sundown, Memphis Sundown and Deklan Sundown, Sisters; Betty (Dick) Campbell, Rita (Edward) Buettner, Nieces; Jeanie Nadler and Jordan Nadler, Nephews; Jon Campbell, Rich Campbell, Chris Campbell, Tucker Nadler and five Step-children also survive Eddie. A wife, Doreen predeceases him.
Friends and relatives may call from 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, June 10, 2018 at Ross Funeral Home of Akron, LLC, 10 Eckerson Avenue where a Celebration of Life Service will take place at 7 p.m. The family would appreciate memorials made in Eddie’s name to: The ECMC Intensive Care, Trauma Unit.
