David Thiel Obituary

David A. Thiel, of Akron, passed away on Sunday, August 19, 2018. He was born in Medina, NY on April 7, 1932 to Lester and Blanche (Herendeen) Thiel.

Beloved husband over 53 years to the late Vera (Ireland) Thiel; loving father to Sue (Thiel) Schleef, Randy Thiel, Lisa (Thiel) Lipiec, and Darcy Thiel; grandfather to 8 lucky grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren.

David was a graduate of Lyndonville High School Class of 1950. He served in the United States Army in Korea. David worked for over thirty-two years at Harrison Radiator in Lockport, NY. He was an active member of the Terry’s Corners Fire Department for over 60 years where he served three times as chief, and other posts including assistant chief and fire police. He was a member of the State Chief Association, Niagara County Fire Chief Association, and the Akron Newstead Senior Citizens. A God-fearing man you could count on, worthy of respect. Our world needs more men like him. He will be sorely missed.
